Religious Literacy for Educators Week 2024
We’re excited to be spending the week with teachers from Montgomery County Public Schools for a “Religious Literacy for Educators” professional development course. We started the morning with foundational religious literacy frameworks. This afternoon, we’re hearing from three teenagers from the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington about their diverse experiences, beliefs, and practices.
Our big themes this week are recognizing the internal diversity of religions and thinking about how to support students of all religious and non-religious backgrounds in our schools and classrooms.
We’ll be visiting six other religious communities this week. Stay tuned to see where else we’ll be going!

Learn about what happens at a Sikh gurdwara. Jasreet and Amitoj take us on a tour of everything the Gurdwara has to offer, from the prayer hall to langar hall and community kitchen. The San Jose Gurdwara is the largest in North America and an important center of Sikh community life.
